2004 Law Student Legal Writing Contest

The International Law Section of the State Bar of Texas is pleased to announce the following winners for the Section's Spring 2004 Law Student Legal Writing Contest (click on author name for a copy of the paper):

First Place

Nabila Ansari
South Texas College of Law
"Understanding Patents in a Post-Doha World"

Second Place Paul Kennedy
South Texas College of Law
"Watching the Clothes Go Round: Combating the Effects of Money Laundering on Economic Development and International Trade"
Third Place Kevin P. McCary
University of Texas
"The (Not-So) Universal Language of Law: Translation, Interpretation and Confusion in the NAFTA Chapter 19 Panel Process"
Honorable Mention David N. Strange
University of Houston Law Center
"United Nations Resolution 1441"

The writing contest drew a sizable number of entries from law students representing five of Texas's seven law schools. The selection process was difficult among the many entries received, and the Section warmly thanks all law students who participated in the contest. We hope those law students who are continuing in law school will consider submitting new entries for our 2005 writing contest. Congratulations to all of the winners!
